YUNGBLUD’s 'Die A Little' Video Will Literally Make Your Skin Crawl

On Wednesday (October 30), YUNGBLUD gave fans even more to look forward to this Halloween by teasing a video for "Die A Little," and let's just say the timing couldn't be more perfect.

The clip stars the English rocker getting interrogated by police, while ripples form across his face and body and his eyes turn black (a la Billie Eilish's "when the party's over" video). After expelling black substance from his mouth, things take a turn for the worst and whatever's inside him takes over, which doesn't end well for the law enforcement team.

“This song is about realizing and accepting the dark part of your mind that is trying to get out,” YUNGBLUD has said about the song. “People who don’t understand what you are going through will try to interfere and generalize what you’re feeling. That can end up with them getting as hurt as you. This video is a call out to take mental health seriously.”

"Die A Little" was written for the 13 Reasons Why soundtrack, which came out over the summer to correspond with the show's third season. Though the show has received some backlash for its subject matter — namely how it depicts suicide and depression —YUNGBLUD defended his choice to get involved before the latest season aired.

“I think it’s really important,” the young rocker said.“There’s so much controversy around this show because people think it’s glamorising anxiety. I do not. It’s doing what good art should do: it’s highlighting a subject that people wouldn’t normally talk about.”

“People say that it’s triggering and uncomfortable. I suffer from anxiety and depression, and I have a lot of my life. Do you know what’s more uncomfortable than that? Someone not understanding what you’re going through," he continued. “For me, that show gives education and understanding to people who would never normally understand it. Some people might say ‘Oh, it’s just a phase’ and not understand what anxiety is. I think this show is important.”
