Lzzy Hale takes rock & roll very seriously, and unfortunately for a guy she once dated that meant getting dumped for falling asleep during a Tool concert. The story came up during an interview with Guitar Player where the Halestorm frontwoman named 10 albums that changed her life. Among the picks was Tool's 2001 album Lateralus.

Lzzy recalled how she and her brother Arejay, who now plays drums in Halestorm, really wanted to see the band when they were touring in support of that album. “I had a s****y waitress job, and I got us tickets to see Tool at Hershey Park. I was so stoked,” she remembered. “Then Arejay did something to piss off our parents, so they wouldn’t allow him to go. I thought, ‘Okay, this could be an opportunity to ask somebody out on a date,’ which I did. I asked this guy Nate, and he said, ‘Yes.’ I was like, ‘Sweet!’ We didn’t have great seats, but it didn’t matter – the show was amazing. I was singing every word.”

But her date didn't have the same experience. “Halfway through, I looked at my date and saw that he had fallen asleep – total deal-breaker for me!” she joked. “So in a weird way, Tool’s Lateralus was a life-changer. My brother still teases me about it: ‘I wouldn’t have fallen asleep.’”

Lzzy is on an acoustic tour with her current boyfriend, and Halestorm bandmate, Joe Hottinger. See a full list of tour dates here.
