Luigi Mangione has publicly requested a laptop in jail as he awaits his trial in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, according to a court filing obtained by the New York Post after being made public late Monday (March 24).

Mangione's attorneys made the proposal to allow him to view a vast amount of documents, video and other material related to the case, rather than using it for communication. Similar limited-laptop provisions had previously been made for other defendants being held at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where Mangione is currently being held without bond.

Prosecutors argued against the request, claiming some witnesses have already been threatened in relation to the case. Defense lawyer Karen Friedman Agnifilo publicly denied that Mangione had any "connection" to "any of said alleged threats."

Mangione pleaded "not guilty" in a Manhattan courtroom packed with at least two dozen women and six men watching in attendance on December 23, the New York Post reported at the time. The 26-year-old, who is an Ivy League graduate from a prominent Maryland real estate family, was arrested in Altoona after a McDonald's employee spotted him eating at the restaurant and believed he resembled the then-wanted gunman linked to the Manhattan shooting.

Mangione was found carrying a ghost gun, masks and a manifesto linked to the incident at the time of his arrest, authorities confirmed.
